Zinfandel Old Vine from Dry Creek Vineyard, in the Dry Creek Valley (Sonoma, California), from vines with an average age of over 100 years. Freely-loamy, gravelly and iron-rich soils, with yields of 1 to 2 tons per acre. 78 % Zinfandel, 19 % Petite Sirah and 3 % Carignan. Aging for 15 months in French, Hungarian and American oak barrels, 27 % new. Nose of blackberry, raspberry, cocoa, toasted cedar and nutmeg. Palate of black cherry and plum, lively acidity, smooth tannins and long finish. Year 2019. 14.5 % vol.

GROWING SEASON
Overall, 2019 was a mild growing season with a later start to summer. This seasonal change resulted in a longer ripening time, allowing for even ripening and full berry development while retaining natural acidity. Harvest started about a week later than the average of the last few harvests, and the mild conditions led to a very long season, with the fruit being harvested for almost 70 days! This extended season allowed us to harvest each vineyard block at an optimal level of ripeness, producing balanced, flavoursome wines with complexity and nuance.
