SEASON:
A cool start to the season was marked by solid rain events in December, resulting in lush, healthy green canopies. The final stage of the growing season was warmer than normal, accelerating ripening and dark colours. The natural acidity in all the Pinot blocks was surprisingly high. The fruit was handpicked both in the vineyard and in the cellar. The 2019 Pinot Noir vintage shows incredible structure.

VINIFICATION:
Harvested by hand, all the fruit is cooled overnight at 12 degrees Celsius. Indigenous yeasts. Fermentation in small oak fermenters. The 115 was fermented at 100% with whole bunches, while the MV6 was destemmed, cold soaked for 5 days and then allowed to warm gently in a wild fermentation. All parcels were matured in French oak - 25% new, 75% old - for 8 months in 225L barrels. Poured for blending, no fining, no filtration. Gravity bottled.

After discovering Yarra Valley wines 25 years ago, Lou Primavera planted this vineyard at Hoddles Creek in 2001. We have a long-standing relationship with the Primavera family, having sourced fruit from the vineyard for a number of years. As a testament to the growing quality of this site, we now produce a single vineyard Pinot Noir from Primavera.
