Harvest 2021

After a rainy winter, the season developed with wetter than normal spring conditions. This regular rainfall helped to establish good moisture in the vineyard soil. We also experienced one of the coolest seasons on record, which resulted in a high percentage of smaller berries, resulting in lower yields and excellent flavour concentration.

Tolpuddle Winery Chardonnay 2021
A very exciting vintage. Quite expressive on the nose, with some notes of lemon zest and quince. On the palate, there is breadth and power, and a sense that this will be a long-lived wine. The touch of opulence is tempered by the classic Tolpuddle Vineyard vein of acidity, which brings the palate into its usual focused line.
The grapes were all handpicked, whole bunch pressed and fermented in French oak. The wine spent nine months in barrel with gentle stirrings as needed, then rested in tank on lees.
Ageing
It will reward careful ageing for up to 12 years.
