Soil: Volcanic, alluvial and colluvial, basaltic (Andesite), clay loam texture, high content of rocks and organic matter. 500 metres above sea level.
Vintage Climate: The summer was warmer than usual with very hot conditions during January. Some summer rains helped to control fires in the southern regions. Temperatures dropped in autumn, resulting in a very healthy harvest. Lower red yields, more concentrated wines.
Age of Plants: 14 years (100% grown on the farm)
Yields (per hectare): 5 tonnes
Farm certifications: Organic (Ecocert). Biodynamic (Demeter).
Winemaking: The grapes are harvested by hand during late March and April. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks (5000 litres) for 25 days at 24°C. No yeast was added.
Ageing: 18 months in French oak barrels; 50% new, 45% second use, 5% in cement egg tank.
Alcohol: 14.5%
Residual Sugar: 2.5 g/l
pH: 3.42
Total acidity: 4.9 g/l
