GROWING AND HARVESTING CONDITIONS: Minimal intervention of the terroir and gentle vinification define the complexity of Escorihuela Gascón's icon wines. The alluvial soils of the El Cepillo vineyard are deep and sandy loam with rocks rich in calcium carbonate (caliche).
This has been one of the coldest harvests in the last three decades. The El Niño weather phenomenon caused a dry summer with low rainfall and fluctuating temperatures. Yields were low, with good grape health, and the Andes Mountains were completely covered with snow throughout the summer. The combination of rain and cooler days led to an early harvest with optimal ripeness and healthy grapes that produced wines of great concentration and good acidity.
GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Malbec.
VINEYARD REGION: Lot 6, El Cepillo Vineyard, Uco Valley.
MATURATION: Fermented and aged for 16 months in 400 litre French oak barrels.
IDEAL TIME TO DRINK: 15 years.
