Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Style: Typically shows a pink grapefruit character, concentration and texture on the mid-palate, reflecting the carefully selected sites and hand picking during the small window of perfect ripeness.

Low yields meant that the vines channelled their energy into a smaller crop, bringing intensity to the grapes. This edition perfectly balances grapefruit, florals and lively acidity.

Season: The 2022 season started cool during flowering, resulting in low yields for early budding varieties. The season was mostly mild and dry, but some well-timed rains kept the vines healthy for a later than normal harvest.

Origin: Sourced from our estate vineyards in Balhannah and Lenswood, supplemented with fruit from a small number of highly valued growers.

Vinification: Cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed by maturation on lees.

Early bottling to preserve freshness.

Background: 2022 is the 33rd vintage that Shaw + Smith has produced. It has become a benchmark for Adelaide Hills and Australian Sauvignon Blanc.

To serve: The ideal temperature is 6 to 8°C.

Ageing potential: Best enjoyed within 18 months after bottling.
