TERROIR:
Soil of alluvial origin with an upper layer of silty clay loam composition, and then the profile is dominated by a conglomerate with abundant presence of pebbles and covered by a layer of calcium carbonate.
Malbec from barracks N°3 and 4 with a depth of the top layer of about 60 cm.
Bonarda from barrack N° 2 with a top layer depth of about 40 cm.
Cabernet Sauvignon from barrack no. 7 with a depth of 40 cm and a higher percentage of clay than in the previous barracks.
Irrigation: Surface, conducted in the row by furrow.
Height: 995 metres above sea level.
Year of implantation: Malbec 1.948 / Bonarda: 1.948 / Cabernet Sauvignon: 1.999
Type of management: Medium to low density canopy, seeking to illuminate the bunches with indirect light and protect the fruit from direct sunlight, soils with traditional tillage and allowing the coexistence of rye every other row. Sustainable management, avoiding the use of herbicides and pesticides. Double Guyot pruning is used for all three varieties.
VINIFICATION:
Harvested in boxes of 20 kilos.
Harvest date: Malbec: Beginning of April / Cabernet Sauvignon: End of March / Bonarda: Mid-April
Winemaking: Traditional, fermented in cement vats, without epoxy. Cold pre-fermentative maceration for 3 days, working on the cap by pumping over and punching down.
Fermentation temperature 25°C. In addition, microvinifications were carried out in barrels.
Aged in 35 hl foudres, 225 Itrs. barrels and 500 Itrs. French oak barrels for 15 months, 20 % of which are new barrels.

Bodega Vistalba was founded in Mendoza in 2003. It was built on one of the family estates and its name is a tribute to the land that gives it a home: the terroir of Vistalba.
