History:
In 2012, Andre & Selina Bondar fell in love with a parcel of Shiraz: the Rayner vineyard, planted between 1947 and 1950, in McLaren Vale, South Australia, near Adelaide, by the ocean. This love of the parcel led to his first vintage, Violet Hour, with the variety Andre knew well after vinifying with Alain Graillot. His wines represent the new Australian wave: fresh, flavoursome, digestible; something different and so Australian.
Description:
Violet Hour, in homage to Bernard DeVoto, is the vibrant expression of the Bondar style, a perfumed wine with incredible freshness. The grapes come from the Rayner vineyard, planted between 1947 and 1950, in a plot on limestone rock. Vinification includes a 20% of whole bunches, giving a very fine texture and delicious freshness. A modern take on McLaren Vale Shiraz with ripe, fleshy black fruits, all in balance. The wine ages in barrel, with the oak perfectly integrated, evolving elegantly for 5 to 10 years.
